 Today’s ride was from Champaign Illinois to Crawfordsville Indiana. We have crossed another state line. The weather cooperated, and was quite comfortable most of the day. We were on a lot of back roads and had a fair amount of nice scenery with the scenery changing a bit which made in the ride nice. Again at times I felt like I was riding back home because they were much more trees. We were talking today that it seems like as we get further and further east we are encountering more and more trees. There was a headwind today and some of these trees did offer, some protection. But there were in many areas where it was wide open and you could feel the head when slowing you down. It is funny. You would think that after a rest day, my muscles would be a little recovered. But it was quite interesting. I felt like I was working really hard today and my muscles were a little upset with me that I was back on the bike. But I did complete the day clocking in 81 miles. It is hard to believe that in two weeks from today we will be almost done. We will be having our banquet that evening and the next day we will be riding to revere beach. Below are a few pictures from today. I’ve also re-included the one of my helmet decoration. If you can’t tell what it is, it is all the different states that we have, and will be traveling through.

Days 2&3

 Yesterday on day two we rode to Indio California. I did pretty well. I did get in the SAG wagon for a little bit. But I was able to complete the ride to the hotel. We rode through Palm Springs, which was an interesting place with lots of wealthy places. The town or city itself had a lot of different shops and restaurants. We did not eat there though. Although at the end of Palm Springs, or as I was leaving it, I did stop at a Carl juniors and had a couple of pieces of chicken and was able to fill up my fluids with lots of ice. It was quite warm yesterday. I did not take any pictures and I apologize for that. First Day

 I completed my first day.  I did pretty well. I completed 77 out of 84 miles. Had a little difficulty with nutrition and hydration at one point. Overall, it was a good day. Went through a lot of LA. Also went through a place called Gardena which reminded me of skiing in Italy. We were at Val Gardena. The last 7 miles were a climb similar to the beginning of the Kangamangus Clinb and I decided to play it safe and get in the SAG wagon. Most of the scenery today was city like. We did go through an area of where multiple homeless folks were living. That was kind of sad. Below is a picture of me at Manhattan pier just before we left. That is today’s update.
