 Today the ride was from Erie, Pennsylvania to Buffalo New York. We crossed another state line today.  The weather today was quite variable in that initially, it looked cloudy then it warmed up a bit. I took my raincoat off and then shortly there after it started raining again. The rest of the day was on and off rain, sometimes with heavy downpours. There was a section of the road that had been newly paved with some type of material that when it splint it off caused multiple flats. I believe there was around 12 to 14 flats for people. Unfortunately I got quite cold by the first SAG stop and needed to get into the van to warm up. We have only one week left to go.

After today’s ride, we rode up to Niagara Falls in a car that I rented to travel to my nieces wedding this weekend.   Five of us went up to see the Falls. We saw both the Canadian as well as the American side. I had not been there since I was a child. It appeared the same but different as well. It was quite awesome to see the power of the water. I have pictures below from Niagara Falls as well as when I crossed into New York.

Tomorrow morning, I will head out to Massachusetts for Kaylie‘s wedding. I am looking forward to being there for her and visiting with my family. On Sunday I will head back to Syracuse where I will re-join the group.

Days 2&3

 Yesterday on day two we rode to Indio California. I did pretty well. I did get in the SAG wagon for a little bit. But I was able to complete the ride to the hotel. We rode through Palm Springs, which was an interesting place with lots of wealthy places. The town or city itself had a lot of different shops and restaurants. We did not eat there though. Although at the end of Palm Springs, or as I was leaving it, I did stop at a Carl juniors and had a couple of pieces of chicken and was able to fill up my fluids with lots of ice. It was quite warm yesterday. I did not take any pictures and I apologize for that. First Day

 I completed my first day.  I did pretty well. I completed 77 out of 84 miles. Had a little difficulty with nutrition and hydration at one point. Overall, it was a good day. Went through a lot of LA. Also went through a place called Gardena which reminded me of skiing in Italy. We were at Val Gardena. The last 7 miles were a climb similar to the beginning of the Kangamangus Clinb and I decided to play it safe and get in the SAG wagon. Most of the scenery today was city like. We did go through an area of where multiple homeless folks were living. That was kind of sad. Below is a picture of me at Manhattan pier just before we left. That is today’s update.
